Dry ice blasting is a cleaning method that uses solid carbon dioxide (dry ice) accelerated in a pressurized air stream. It's similar to sandblasting but uses dry ice as the medium. This technique is non-abrasive, non-conductive, nonflammable, and non-toxic.

Dry ice blasting is efficient and environmentally friendly, using reclaimed CO2 and approved by the EPA, FDA, and USDA. It eliminates the need for chemical cleaning agents and doesn’t produce secondary waste or chemical residues, as the dry ice sublimates on impact, turning back into gas. This means no cleanup of the blasting medium is needed.

The process involves propelling dry ice pellets at high speeds. The pellets are softer and less dense than other blasting media. Upon impact, they sublimate, absorbing heat and causing thermal shock, which helps dislodge contaminants from the surface without damaging it. This method is highly effective depending on the thermal properties of the surfaces and contaminants involved.
